Burlington's NEW Dog Daycare

New dog daycare on Advanced Rd. (near Mainway and Guelph Line) – Open 7 days a week!

Playday Pups began as a cozy home dog daycare, where we provided a personalized, home-like environment for a small number of dogs. However, thanks to the incredible support from our community, we quickly outgrew that space. To meet the growing demand, we signed a lease for a commercial facility that now features two spacious indoor play areas and a fully fenced outdoor yard, allowing us to offer even more room for dogs to play, socialize, and enjoy their day in a safe and secure setting.

Tara and Dave started Playday Pups with a passion for creating a loving and safe environment for all kinds of dogs. From the beginning, they welcomed pups who love to play and socialize with others, as well as those with special needs, senior dogs, and even energetic puppies. Their goal has always been to provide a tailored experience for each dog, ensuring every pup gets the care, attention, and playtime they need. Whether it’s a high-energy dog ready for fun or a senior dog needing a little extra TLC, Tara and Dave are dedicated to making sure every dog feels at home.

Why Choose Playday Pups Dog Daycare?

Safety First

  • Supervision: Your dog is always under the watchful eyes of Tara or Dave (or both). We take great care to ensure the safety and well-being of every dog.
  • Handling Emergencies: In the rare event of a dog fight or aggressive behavior, we give the dog a time-out and then try reintroducing them. If the issue persists, we separate the dogs to ensure everyone’s safety.
  • Escape-Proof Play Areas: Our outdoor yard is fully fenced with double gates, providing a secure environment where dogs can run, play, and explore without worry.

Our Daily Routine

  • Playtime vs. Rest: Your dog will enjoy a balanced day with approximately 50% playtime outdoors and 50% rest indoors.
  • Free Play: Dogs are allowed free play with their peers unless extreme weather conditions, like heat or cold, require adjustments for their comfort and safety.

Meet and Greet Process

  • Temperament Testing: We require a meet-and-greet session before enrollment. During this time, your dog will meet Kaya, our in-house temperament tester, to ensure they fit in with the group.
  • Matching Playmates: We carefully match dogs by temperament and energy level, pairing shy dogs with other gentle pups and high-energy dogs with similarly active friends.

Experienced, Caring Staff

  • Tara and Dave’s Expertise: With decades of experience caring for dogs, we are currently completing professional dog certifications to further enhance our care.
  • Training in Progress: We are trained in dog behavior, first aid, and emergency response, and are committed to becoming experts in caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments.

Managing Different Dogs

  • Groupings by Activity Level: We separate dogs by their energy and activity levels to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
  • Handling Dogs Who Don’t Get Along: If any dog doesn’t play well with others, we keep them separated for everyone’s comfort and safety.

Our Facility

  • Indoor and Outdoor Play Areas: Our facility includes two spacious indoor play areas (a big room and a little room) and a large, fully fenced outdoor yard. Your dog will have plenty of space to roam and play.
  • Tours Available: We encourage you to come in for a meet-and-greet, where you can tour our facility and see if it’s the right fit for your dog.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: We maintain a clean environment by promptly cleaning up after messes and performing regular deep cleaning throughout the day.

Caring for Special Needs Dogs

  • Medication Administration: We are comfortable handling complex medications, including injectables, and are happy to administer them if needed.
  • Senior and Special Needs Dogs: Senior dogs and those with special health requirements receive extra attention, often staying close to Tara for supervision and care.

Convenient Drop-off and Pick-up

  • Drive-Up Service: Simply drive up to our facility, and we’ll see you on our cameras. If we don’t recognize your car, just send us a text, and we’ll come out to greet you and your pup.
  • Flexible Hours: We’re open from 6 AM to 8 PM, 7 days a week, and we offer flexibility for early drop-offs and late pick-ups once we know your dog is a good fit for daycare.

Managing Stress and Anxiety

  • Helping Anxious or Shy Dogs: We take special care of dogs who may feel anxious or shy, keeping them by our side, separating them if needed, and giving them plenty of love and affection.
  • Separation Anxiety: If your dog struggles with separation anxiety, rest assured they will receive the extra attention they need to feel calm and secure.

Group Size and Staff-to-Dog Ratio

  • Limited Group Size: We maintain a low staff-to-dog ratio of around 1 staff member for every 5 dogs, ensuring each dog gets plenty of attention. We limit the total number of dogs to 10-15 for safety and quality care.

Trial Days and Assessments

  • Meet and Greet Required: We don’t offer trial days, but we do require a meet-and-greet before your dog’s first daycare day. If needed, we can start with a half-day to help ease your dog into the routine.

Vaccination and Health Requirements

  • Vaccination Policy: All dogs must be up-to-date on their vaccinations, including Rabies, Bordetella, and DHPP.
  • Spaying and Neutering: Dogs over 8 months old must be neutered, or owners must have a commitment to neuter their dog.

Our new location on Advanced Rd is in a commercial district, so noise isn’t typically a concern. However, if any dogs are excessively barking, we manage the situation by speaking with them calmly and providing some quiet time indoors if needed. This helps reduce noise and ensures a comfortable environment for all dogs in our care.

At this time, we do not accept extra-large breeds such as Great Danes, Mastiffs, St. Bernards, or Bernese Mountain Dogs at our daycare. However, we understand that every dog is unique, and we are open to making exceptions based on individual circumstances. If you have a specific breed or size in mind, please reach out to us, and we’ll be happy to discuss your dog’s needs and see if we can accommodate them.

When introducing new dogs into the existing group, we start by allowing them to explore the main outdoor yard. We carefully match new dogs with others that have similar temperaments—timid dogs with timid ones, for example—to ensure a smooth and positive introduction. Tara and Dave closely supervise these interactions to help everyone feel comfortable and ensure a harmonious environment for all the dogs.

Yes, you can bring personal items such as blankets for your dog, especially for boarding stays where these items can help your dog feel more at home. However, it’s not necessary for daycare, as we provide plenty of comfort and enrichment throughout the day. If you prefer to bring something for added comfort, feel free to do so!

Currently, we do not offer additional services such as grooming or training during daycare. However, we are actively looking into adding these services in the future to better meet the needs of our clients. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to enhance our offerings!

Mealtimes are managed carefully by feeding one dog at a time to prevent food aggression. If a dog doesn’t eat, we will attempt to feed them a few times to encourage them to eat. Our goal is to ensure that every dog is well-fed and comfortable during their stay.
